Public Education and Awareness

  • Riley County EMS provides outreach to the community through demonstrations, tours and safety awareness programs.  RCEMS is a participant of the Kansas Safe Kids program; Kansas Safe Kids is a statewide childhood injury prevention program whose mission is to protect children from unintentional injuries.  Safe Kids Riley County began in 1993 and since that time has been active promoting child safety. Riley County Police Dept. and Manhattan Fire Department are also part of the Safe Kids program in Riley County.
  • Riley County EMS sells children's bicycle helmets through the Kansas Safe Kids program at a price of $7.50.  Stop by the station at 2011 Claflin Rd. during business hours (8am-5pm) or call ahead on weekends to have someone assist you with the purchase and fitting of your child's helmet.
  • Riley County EMS also has two "Child Passenger Safety Seat Technicians" who provide child seat safety inspections as well as seat installations.
Weekly Child Safety Seat checks are done every Tuesday at the Manhattan Fire Department, 2000 Denison Ave. from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM or by appointment at the Riley County Police Dept by calling 537-2112.

You may call the department during business hours (8am-5pm) for more information on any of these services.  Phone: 785-539-3535
