Public Education and Awareness
- Riley County EMS provides outreach to the community through demonstrations,
tours and safety awareness programs. RCEMS is a participant of the Kansas
Safe Kids program; Kansas Safe Kids is a statewide
childhood injury prevention program whose mission is to protect children from
unintentional injuries. Safe Kids Riley County began in 1993 and since
that time has been active promoting child safety. Riley County Police Dept. and
Manhattan Fire Department are also part of the Safe Kids program in Riley
County.
- Riley County EMS sells children's bicycle helmets through the Kansas Safe
Kids program at a price
of $7.50. Stop by the station
at 2011 Claflin Rd. during business hours (8am-5pm) or call ahead on weekends to
have someone assist you with the purchase and fitting of your child's
helmet.
- Riley County EMS also has two "Child Passenger Safety Seat Technicians" who
provide child seat safety inspections as well as seat installations.
Weekly Child Safety Seat checks are done every Tuesday at the Manhattan Fire
Department, 2000 Denison Ave. from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM or by appointment at
the Riley County Police Dept by calling 537-2112.
